Installing Symantec Endpoint
When living in a residence hall or Yakama Village apartments at WSU, it is mandatory to have an antivirus product installed on all computers. Symantec Endpoint Protection is provided for free to WSU students, staff, and faculty. No other antivirus program is guaranteed to work with the Cisco NAC (CCA) required in the residence halls and Yakama Village apartments.
Symantec Endpoint Protection can be downloaded here. Download and run the installer from the website. The following instructions will guide you through installing the product.
**Note** If you have any version of Norton antivirus, please download and run the removal tool for Windows here.
Downloading Symantec Endpoint Protection for Windows
All eligible students can download Symantec Endpoint Protection. The download will begin after successful network ID login. If using Internet Explorer, add an ad\ in front of the network ID, meaning the user name would be: ad\networkID and the password will be the same.
Running the Installation

After running the installer, this window will be displayed. Click "Next" to continue the installation process.

After pressing "I accept", click "Next"

Leaving "Unmanaged Client" selected, click "Next"

Finally, leaving "Typical" selected, click "Next" then "Install".
After the installation finishes, LiveUpdate should update the virus definitions. Once this is complete, the computer is protected!
Scanning Your Computer
To Uninstall Symantec Running Windows
If Symantec is impropertly installed, uninstall Symantec and reinstall it to have it properly installed.
To uninstall Symantec, go into the Start Menu located at the lower left hand corner of the screen.
Next, open the Control Panel located in the Start Menu.
XP: 
Once in the Control Panel, make sure Classic view is selected. There is an option on the left of the menu that says "Switch to Classic View" if it is not already selected.
Windows XP: Open the programs by clicking the "Add/Remove Programs" icon

Windows Vista: Open the programs by clicking on the "Programs and Features" icon and then select "Uninstall a program".

The new window should have a list of programs that are on your computer where they can bed editted. Scroll down and find Symantic Antivirus and choose to Remove the program or Uninstall.
Once in, follow the step-by-step instructions to uninstall Symantec.
