Windows 7 Wireless Setup | This setup process is for Windows 7 managed ethernet connection.
Register your System- Go to www.wsu.edu/dhcp and login with your WSUNetworkID
- Find Wired Machine Registration (dynamic addresses)
- Indicate if you are Pullman Faculty/Staff & Staff or other Pullman campus Wired user
- Fill in the required information into the form and follow the instructions on that page.
- Return to www.wsu.edu/dhcp to see if your computer registration is complete.
- Registration of your computer ensures that an IP address will be given to you when you are on the Washington State University network.
Configure your Computer- Click the Start button on the lower left hand corner of your screen.
- On the Start menu click Control Panel.
- From the Control Panel click Network and Internet.
- From the Network and Internet page click the Network and Sharing Center.
- On the left panel you can click Change adapter settings.
- By default there is a Local Area Connection set up for each ethernet adapter. Double click the Local Area Connection for the adapter you are using. Laptop users will likely only have one setup.
- On the Local Area Connection Status window click Properties. Enter your computer password if necessary.
- On the Local Area Connection Properties window click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and then click Properties.
- Make sure that the Obtain and IP address automatically button is selected. If the Use the following IP address button is selected and an address, mask, and gateware are indicated, along with DNS servers, you can type this information into the form on the Alternate Configuration tab. However, after you have entered that information be sure to return to the General tab and click the Obtain an IP address automatically button.
- Click OK and close any open windows. Connect the ethernet cable to your computer. You may now attemp to open a web page. If you are experiencing problems repeat this process. You may also contact the Help Desk at 335-HELP or come to the Help Desk located in the Information Technology Building room 2091.
