  1. Select the Tools menu and select Account Settings
  2. Select Server Settings under your account.
  3. Check the SSL option under Security Settings and select the check box Use Secure Authentication.

  4. Now select Outgoing Server (SMTP) under your account.
    Hit the Edit button to make changes to the SMTP server.

  5. Enter the Server as smtp.wsu.edu
    Check the Use name and password box and enter your Network ID. 
    Check the SSL button under Use Secure Connection then hit Ok to save changes. 
    Hit Ok again to close the Settings window.

  6. The first time you send an email using SSL you will receive a pop-up box with the following dialog:

  7. Select the option to Accept this certificate permanently and hit Ok.
  8. You will then be prompted to enter your password. 
    Remember this is your Network ID password!
